"Hopefully we'll be hearing a lot from 'triple threat' talent composer, lyricist, and book writer Timothy Huang in the next few years... Huang brings a distinctive new voice to musical theater that makes you sit up and pay attention...

Though some critics will undoubtedly describe in profuse detail that And the Earth Moved is an "Asian American musical" , it's more important to recognize the significant contribution that this show makes to the ever-widening and inclusive definition of what constitutes the American musical.

Indeed, Huang's show with its quirky sense of humor and odd-ball yet moving characters often reminded me of William Finn's work, particularly A New Brain, more than say Rodgers and Hammerstein's now dated musical Flower Drum Song. "

—Warren Hoffman on And the Earth Moved, Talkin' Broadway

"...this one-man musical plays like a fresh variation on 'Wonderful Town' propelled by stunning music and a tremendously appealing solo performance by Shonn Wiley.  Timothy Huang's score boasts masterful plot- and character-driven songs and comedic set pieces... Some have a contemporary throb, but others have a haunting melodic quality that seems torn from the annals of the Great American Songbook, populated by such folks as George Gershwin and Harold Arlen..." -

Ron Cohen on The View From Here, Backstage

"Huang’s composing skills and gift for melody lend this show its most formidable asset, the score."

—Matthew Trumbull on And the Earth Moved, nytheatre.com

"Huang is clearly gifted, especially as a lyricist."

—Mark Dundas Wood on And the Earth Moved, Backstage

"...songs like the wistfully romantic 'A Little Part of Every Day', the energetic and driving 'Five Days' and 'Unstoppable' and the exhaustedly resigned 'How Do People Do This Every Day' superbly define his ever-evolving character...a familiar depiction of New York and a singular realization of this man's experiences there... often so effortlessly moving and openhanded that you feel as if you're being granted a forbidden peek into this man's psyche..."

Matthew Murray on The View From Here, TalkinBroadway.com

"Timothy Huang is just perfect as Jerry, projecting the easy humor, yes, but also the pathos. May he always have roles to play on stage."

—Bert Weschler on Shanghai Lil's, nytheatre-wire.com

"Along the way, Jen acquires a band of companions, including the loyal Mafoo, the beautiful Voyaging Moon and the half-crazed Moxa (played by lanky Timothy Huang as the Asian answer to John Cleese).

—Charles Battersby on The Remarkable Journey of Prince Jen, oobr.com
